SAP S/4HANA (Transformation Lead) Project Director - Contractor
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced S/4HANA Project Director (Transformation Lead) to drive and manage end-to-end transformation initiatives, guiding the migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA. The ideal candidate will possess deep functional knowledge across the key S/4HANA modules and bring extensive experience in SAP transformation projects. You will engage with senior stakeholders, navigate complex organizational environments, and provide strategic leadership to ensure the successful delivery of this large-scale transformation.
This role requires exceptional resilience, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence at all levels, paired with technical excellence in SAP systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead S/4HANA Transformation: Own the end-to-end transformation journey from SAP ECC to S/4HANA, ensuring strategic alignment and delivery across all phases of the project.
- Functional Expertise: Provide deep functional knowledge across S/4HANA modules (FI, CO, MM, SD, PP, PM, and more) to ensure smooth integration and optimal usage post-migration.
- SAP ECC Migration: Leverage prior experience of SAP ECC to S/4HANA migrations to guide best practices, mitigate risks, and ensure technical excellence in project execution.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with C-level executives, department heads, and cross-functional teams to ensure project alignment, manage expectations, and drive consensus on key decisions.
- Complexity Management: Navigate and manage high levels of complexity inherent in large-scale transformation projects, providing clear guidance and direction in ambiguous or evolving scenarios.
- Change Management: Develop and implement change management strategies that ensure organizational readiness for the transition to S/4HANA, fostering a positive transformation culture.
- Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional and technical teams, ensuring collaborative execution of project deliverables, providing mentoring, and fostering a high-performance environment.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify potential risks throughout the migration process and proactively implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruption and ensure project success.
- High EQ and Gravitas: Demonstrate emotional intelligence, resilience, and the ability to inspire and lead teams through high-pressure, high-complexity projects.
- Continuous Improvement: Advocate for continuous improvement and optimization opportunities within the S/4HANA system post-migration, driving long-term value for the organization.
Key Requirements:
SAP Expertise:
- A minimum of 10+ years of experience working with SAP, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience leading SAP ECC to S/4HANA migration projects
- In-depth functional knowledge across key S/4HANA modules including Finance (FI), Controlling (CO), Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Production Planning (PP), and Plant Maintenance (PM)
Leadership Experience:
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional SAP teams through complex migration or transformation initiatives
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of SAP architecture, data migration strategies, and SAP best practices.
- Familiarity with SAP Activate methodology and other SAP implementation approaches.
Stakeholder Management:
- Proven experience managing senior-level stakeholders in large organizations, driving consensus, and navigating competing priorities.
Change Management:
- Experience designing and implementing effective change management frameworks to support technology transitions
Emotional Intelligence:
- High EQ with the ability to manage relationships, influence outcomes, and lead in high-pressure situations.
Problem Solving:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to operate in highly complex and ambiguous environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP Certification: SAP S/4HANA certification is strongly preferred.
- Project Management: PMP, PRINCE2, or other project management certifications are a plus.
- Industry Experience: Experience in industries with complex operational models (manufacturing, retail, pharmaceuticals, etc.) is advantageous.
