Cost Management Director – Power Sector Specialist
Role Purpose
The Cost Management Director will lead high-impact cost management initiatives for a key client in the power sector. This role requires deep expertise in cost structures, activity-based costing (ABC), and extensive experience in delivering cost optimization projects within the power and utilities industry. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic perspective, leveraging their sector knowledge to design and implement scalable frameworks, validate cost allocations, and identify efficiency opportunities to support the client’s long-term operational and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead the design and implementation of cost management strategies tailored to the power sector.
- Apply advanced Activity-Based Costing (ABC) methodologies to improve cost transparency and validate cost allocation mechanisms.
- Conduct benchmarking against industry best practices to identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Identify inefficiencies, non-value-adding activities, and potential areas for process improvement or automation.
- Deliver high-quality project outputs, including cost models, benchmarking studies, and strategic recommendations, in alignment with project timelines and client expectations.
Research & Analysis
- Perform detailed analyses of cost drivers across operational and support functions.
- Develop robust financial and operational models to evaluate current cost structures and identify areas for scalability.
- Leverage industry expertise to document and assess the impact of cost drivers on profitability and operational performance.
Client Interaction & Presentation
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to gather insights and align on project objectives.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and reports that distill complex analyses into actionable insights.
- Build trust with client stakeholders as a subject matter expert, providing objective and practical recommendations.
Knowledge Sharing & Best Practices
- Contribute to internal knowledge sharing by documenting project methodologies and insights.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in the power sector, cost management innovations, and activity-based costing practices.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or a related field (mandatory).
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred but not required.
Experience
- Minimum 9 – 10 years of experience in cost management, with a proven track record in the power and utilities sector.
- Extensive experience with Activity-Based Costing (ABC), cost allocation frameworks, and industry benchmarking.
- Hands-on experience managing multiple cost optimization projects, with demonstrated success in delivering results in complex operational environments.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling tools.
- Familiarity with data visualization and cost management software (e.g., Power BI, Anaplan, SAP, or Oracle Hyperion).

- Willingness to be based in Abu Dhabi for the project duration.
- Availability to start within two weeks to meet client timelines.
