Cloud Engineer - Contractor

Seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer with 5-8 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies, automation, and DevOps practices, with expertise in leading cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will play a key role in optimizing cloud environments, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive cloud-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage multi-cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS, and GCP to support data platform initiatives and other data services.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation templates.
  • Automate cloud operations, including provisioning, monitoring, and scaling
  • Ensure cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Optimize cloud costs by analysing usage patterns and implementing cost-saving strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and development teams to enable CI/CD pipelines and streamline data service deployments.
  • Monitor cloud environments using tools like Azure Monitor, CloudWatch and set up alerts for proactive issue resolution.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in cloud engineering, with expertise in Azure, AWS and GCP
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation templates.
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud networking, VPNs, VPCs, and load balancers.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitLab.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect are a plus.
